Risk Assessment from Fire Protection Shop
THE LAW
Where persons are ‘employed to work’ it is a requirement under The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations act 1997 as amended by The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment.
Where there are 5 or more employees, the findings of the risk assessment must be recorded in writing.
WHO SHOULD CARRY OUT THE ASSESSMENT?
The person carrying out the Fire Risk Assessment must have ‘knowledge, training, the required skill and experience’. **
We only use highly qualified and experienced Ex-Fire Service Officers to carry out Risk Assessments, which all have the required knowledge, training, skill and experience.
FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT REPORT
Following the practical on-site Risk Assessment you will receive a detailed written report, covering all areas of the assessment, this will include the following information:
1. A management overview
2. Full Fire Risk Assessment
3. A Fire Certificate Compliance Audit
4. Digital Photography of Risk Areas
5. Summary of all Fire Risk areas together with ‘who is at risk’ and how to either ‘reduce’ or ‘remove’ the risk to your employees.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE AND WHAT WILL THE COST BE?
The cost is based on either half or full day practical on-site assessments, followed by a legally compliant written report. Site inspections generally take up to 4 hours depending on a number of factors, including size, layout and use of the building, etc, but may be longer for larger and more complex buildings.
REVIEW AUDITS
Following the initial Fire Risk Assessment there is a requirement to review the risks on a regular basis by the employer, in particular if there are changes taking place within the workplace.
We can offer you an after sales service, reviewing your Risk Assessment at intervals determined, usually either annually or bi annually. This would involve an audit of your existing Fire Risk Assessment to assess any changes affecting your working practices, building layout and anything else that may affect your legal compliance.
PROPOSED CHANGES TO FIRE REGULATIONS 2004
Any building which at present holds a current Fire Certificate will have the certificate removed. It is proposed to replace these Fire Certificates with a Fire Risk Assessment Report as identified above, however it is a requirement under the above legislation to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment.
